Eastern United States Huge Georgia 1817 Thomson original hand color antique mapBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
" United States of America " and " The Course of the River St. Laurence ";
Issued 1817, Edinburgh by Thomson.
Fine engraved folio sheet map with original hand color.
The interior (naming "Western Territory") is filled with engraved topographical and ethnological notes. Note the huge Georgia which extends across to the Mississippi river. Numerous islands within the Great Lakes.
In near Very Good condition, light minor small spotting or soiling, light offsetting, overall clean and fresh in appearance, trivial wear or spotting in wide blank margins, slight wrinkling to sheet as often seen between the two maps, will look very nice once framed for display.
Much more detailed than the photographs reveal.
A fine early 19th century map of the Americas, vastly under appreciated given it's beauty and date.
Sheet measures c. 28" W x 21" H.
Printed image size c. 20 1/4" W x 18" H.
Original centerfold as issued.
