Period (likely pre-1950) 3/4 grained morocco leather binding. Raised bands, gilt rules & title, beautiful marble paper covered boards and end papers.
Heavily illustrated scholarly journal issued quarterly. Each issue contains numerous b&w photographs, diagrams, maps, views, plans; plus four large folding color lithographed maps printed on bond paper throughout, all as issued.
Topics include: world wheat market Russia- U.S., Turkey- Anatolia, Cuba, Admiral R.E. Byrd visiting antarctic expedition (with large detailed color litho map- see video), Modoc Lava fields in No. California, Pacaraima-Venezuela Expedition 1931-32, Japanese settlement, Colombia, Rhodesia Africa urban geography, Navajo nomadism, Netherlands Zuider Zee, climates, etc. etc.
Lovely example, minor age scuffing or small flaws, overall clean, lovely book. Two maps detached but complete and fresh. Possibly a unique binding, as likely few annual years were ever bound up like this in such handsome, almost deluxe leather bindings.
