Hiitchcock's New and Complete Analysis of the Holy Bible: or, the Whole of the Old and New Testaments Arranged According to Subjects in Twenty-Seven Books, by Rev. Roswell D. Hitchcock.
1879, New York by A. J. Johnson.
1,159 pages. Illustrated with full page steel engravings by Thomas Nast & F.B. Carpenter, plus a large folding lithographed map of the Holy Land with original hand color.
Thick, monumental book, in period 1/2 leather binding, raised bands, gilt letters and ornate gilt decoration in spine compartments, covers gilt lettered, all edges gilt.
Not a Bible, but one of the most popular all encompassing analysis of the Bibles of this era.
Binding remains sound and tight. Covers rubbed, small scuffing and wear to leather, cloth along edges frayed. Gilt remains bright, binding is very attractive.
Internally clean, tight and sound, tissue guards intact, signs of browsing, a few bent corners, small spots, etc. but entirely pleasing.
Heavy monumental book.
Book measures: 11" H X 7 1/2" W.
