Beautiful and uncommon 18th century engraved folio map of the Holy Land depicting "the wandering of the children of Israel through the wilderness" [after their escape from Egypt].
Includes a fine level of topographic and geographic detail, with many individual cities, monuments, villages and other locations mentioned.
Detailed birds-eye view inset at top right of their encampment, extensive text across the bottom describing the 42 stations during their long journey. Sailing ships in the Red Sea and a decorative title cartouche at bottom right which is flanked by Moses holding his Commandment tablet & Aaron holding a smoking brazier. Jonah and the whale may be seen to the left of the encampment inset near other sailing ships.
In Fair to Good, mostly clean condition. Some moderate spotting and foxing, map has been laid down long ago on old hand-made paper, couple tiny worm holes in lower side blank margins well outside printed area.
Map remains attractive and entirely worthy of display.
