Not to be confused with various other Hoyle books, this particular mid-century NY illustrated edition in publishers pebble cloth is exceedingly scarce. An author and subject more commonly encountered in well worn examples given their intended use.

Publisher's cloth binding, gilt title lettering & ornate spine decorations, embossed ruled covers designs set within triple ruled outlines.

Early owner's inscription to flyleaf: Thos E. Steer, Providence, Rhode Island.

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.

Binding gently age worn, joints slightly rubbed/ scuffed, , tips and corners worn down slightly, spine end cloth chipped, book remains overall attractive as an object. Book presents well, is quite clean, gilt displays pleasing age glow.

Text block paper is gently toned, light minor age spotting, internally still square, tight, well preserved, sound.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
