Oeuvres de Controverse de M. Nicole.
Paris, 1755, G. Desprez.
18th century full leather bindings in a fine small pocket size.
Smooth spines ornately gilt stamped with floral devices, contrasting gilt title labels on spines, mottled calf boards. Marbled endpapers, old small engraved owners armorial book plates to each front pastedown.
Fine small set of six antique mid-18th century books with great shelf appearance.
Set is well age worn, bindings displaying handsome and excellent age patina, but with small assorted flaws like chipping to spine ends of some, old crackling to leather surface, joints splitting, etc. Still, leather is supple, bindings all remain sound, tight and firmly bound due to the superior type of binding employed when they were made.
Each volume measures c. 5 3/8" H x 3 3/8" W".
Set is c. 5 1/2" long on shelf.
