North Pole Canada rare Dublin Grierson pirate c.1735 Moll scarce old mapBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
A Map of the North Pole With all the Territories that Lye near it known to us.
Issued Dublin, c.1735 by H. Moll.
Charming and uncommon variant pirate edition of this well known early 18th century engraved Polar map. The top blank margin trimmed away to exactly at the neat line, confirmed by comparison to the example of this map found illustrating Kershaw, 413 (see below).
Of note for the Dublin ireland imprint of Grierson, but with the utterly unique and fascinating mis-spelling of Moll's name as "Mooll" below the title lower left.
Map shows signs of age with some old staining along the edge, blank margin trimmed narrow right to or slightly within the neat line. Otherwise map remains clean, paper is well preserved and supple, nice strong impression.
Sheet measures c. 8 1/2" x 13 1/2".
Printed area measures c. 7 3/4" x 10 1/4".
