Summit House on Mansfield Mountain 1861 Vermont antique view printBrian DiMambro- Antique & Vintage Maps, Prints, Books & Gold Coins
THE "CHIN" & SUMMIT HOUSE
[From under the "Nose"]
(Vermont - early state Nature view)
Issued Claremont, N.H.: 1861.
Printed New York by Ferd, Mayer & Co.
Uncommon and fine mid-19th century lithographed view print.
This particular type of mid-19th century lithographic printing process was very laborious, involving long-apprenticed highly trained hand artisans. It also involved challenging hand-operated machinery, inking ofstones, sheets of paper individually hung to dry, skill, patience, and other endless tasks and labor. Because of these and various other factors, this old printed leaf is an interesting original artifact from a long past moment in printing.
