World w/ mountains heights & water ways c.1860 Fullarton decorative antique mapBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
With Comparative Views of the Heights of the Principal Mountains .
and Basins of the principal Rivers on the Globe.
Issued London & Edinburgh, c.1860 by Fullarton.
Drawn and engraved by Bartholomew.
Linen backed as issued.
Fine mid-19th century lithographed map with lovely lithograph coloring. Nicely detailed with a fine topography. Lake Torrens in South Australia is shown with an erroneous hook shape.
Includes charts of the world's foremost rivers and mountains, including nine inset maps of river basins around the world, plus a comparative chart at bottom comparing the mountain heights around the world.
In Good and attractive condition. Light to moderate overall surface soiling, dusting and small scattered spotting, edges toned, small purple ink line off Africa coast of Guinea, but still very pleasing visually and well worthy of display. (Price has been substantially reduced because of this trivial visual small mark which is noticeable, but not at all offensive).
The publisher offered the atlas with the maps linen backed at a premium price, which makes the map sheet sturdy, flexible, and almost indestructible when handling.
Sheet measures c.23 1/8" W x 18 1/2" H.
Folio. Original fold line as issued.
