Lovely and uncommon very large detailed antique lithographed map with original hand color.
Printed on sturdy bond-paper which has now nicely age mellowed. Some old creasing at top left corner of sheet, long 12" tear across top left corner repaired long ago on back with archival tape and now all but invisible to the eye when viewing the map.
Astounding level of urban detail for this era, endless owners names and lot outlines with hundreds of different building structures of all sorts shown. This includes Engine works factory, large brewery, steamboat landings and coks, coal yards, a nursery, schools, hat manufacturer, a silk manufacturer, observatory, Doctors residences, public buildings, businesses, residences, etc.
In Good+ or better condition, minor light surface age wear and toning as typical, some faint minor foxing in the blank margins, old long tear very well repaired long ago on back as described, overall the printed image is clean, well preserved and still very attractive.
Old fold lines, likely as issued.
