Nice early 19th century publishers NY leather binding done for the major firm Harper.

Period mottled or swirled calf binding, slightly raised gilt bands. Spine leather dried and surface crackled, lacks original leather title labels, but binding remains tight and square, hinges and joints holding covers firmly.

Binding remains clean, tight, and sound. Interior contents display a pleasing age patina, largely free of age spotting.

Book remains well preserved and attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
