Attractive antiquarian 1/2 leather binding, smooth spine, caryatid harp gilt compartment decorations & title lettering.

Book is physically old and shows some clear heavy signs of handling and time. 

Book has old damp staining, is shaken with some pages loose or slightly protruding, internal hinges fully cracked, etc. Clearly a book which has been heavily and regularly used and laid open flat over past years. A handful of the finely engraved plates display somewhat severe paper surface deterioration in the lower blank corner margins from old dampness. Still, somehow remains a nice book.

Binding age worn but still appealing, leather and joints scuffed and scraped, cover corners damp stained, leather still supple, remains overall attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally book remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A book which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.
