The Norwich Jubilee - A Report of the Celebration at Norwich, Connecticut on the Two Hundredth Anniversary of the Settlement of the Town, September 7th and 8th, 1859, With an Appendix Containing Historical Documents of Local Interest, edited by John A. Stedman.
Published 1859, Norwich, Connecticut by John A. Stedman.
304 pages. Text in English. Engraved folding map with original hand color at front. Gift inscription. Illustrated with a folding hand color map and three color lithographed plates plus a litho facsimilie plate, all protected by original tissue guards. 1862 gift inscription to fly leaf, a couple of early nice related ink manuscript sheets tipped in at front and rear (these appear to summarize key sections of the text of interest to the original owner).

Gorgeous mid-19th century antiquarian full leather binding, slightly raised & gilt bands, gilt title lettering & compartment decorations, ornate gilt cover designs, gilt dentelles, all edges gilt.

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time.

Binding gently age worn but still appealing, leather and joints slightly rubbed and scuffed but still supple, remains overall bright, clean and very attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally book remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A book which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detailed attempt to present this book as it survives.

We often over-describe any flaws that many sellers would not even bother to mention since most people would overlook them as minor and unworthy of comment. Many people tell us the books they receive from us are nicer in person than they appears on the screen. We want you to be clear about what you are buying, so we take numerous photos and try to describe it openly and honestly.
